It was a very hot summer evening when Espacio Infinito opened the 2019 edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival. The band arrived backstage into the midst of very last-minute preparations, with one of the major festivals in the French-speaking part of Switzerland about to begin. The place was humming with positive vibes and the excellent organization surely influenced the band in a good way once it stepped into the perimeter of the festival.

This vibrant atmosphere, this hint of excitement of new adventures to start anew all over again clearly was in the air. And it was in this hotchpotch of emotions that the band stepped onto the stage to perform the first show of the season.

The band had a ball. Staple fare like the excellent Aremù Odùdùwà was on the menu, together with hot rhythms straight from Espacio Infinito‘s Cuban homeland, to rock elements all over the set. Espacio Infinito played a number of interpretations of traditional tunes, including a few of their own. And for the first time, the band threw some rap into the fray that really heated up the stage even more. Add to that some ecstatic dance lessons led by the energetic vocalist Raphael Ferrer and you got yourself a great show worthy of the occasion.

The recently released clip showcases the essence that Espacio Infinito stands for. A perfect example of World Music Fusion, embedded on a foundation of ancestral Afro-Cuban sounds, Ethno Rock, and loads of fun.

Here is the video. Espacio Infinito at the Montreux Jazz Festival in action.
